Bats and Black Cats!

Have you ever had one of those times when something has struck your fancy so much until you just had to have it? Something so pointless and inane that after you splurge on it, you wonder what ever possessed you to spend hard-earned money on it? At least I can honestly say, my point of weakness did not cost so much as to cause any hardship..it was only three dollars. But the point is, I did give in and purchase something that I did not need. I very rarely go shopping since I figure I do not need more "stuff". My house is sort of bursting at the seams with useless "stuff" that really should find its way to a charity drop box. But then..I made a trip to the store and right there staring at me was the most fabulous thing! It was sooo cute! I do believe it was actually "calling" me.."Buy me..please, please.. I so need a home!" It was sort of like the forlorn puppy on the side of the road. You know..the one with the big sad eyes that somehow wins over your heart with just a slight wiggle of its tail..now how can you pass up a lost puppy? And how could I pass up a purple-glittered bat welcome sign? Oh, no.. sigh... Who in their right mind would buy a string of purple-glittered bats that is designed to be a welcome sign? hehe..Well..it is sort of cute and I do like bats! Yes..I admit..a lovely, purple-glittered bat welcome sign will greet you at my front door if you come to visit. Just please do not bring me any sad-eyed puppies..I do not need any help with this!

This morning, I awoke way too early. It was pitch black outside and even the birds (other than the mockingbird.. who, by the way, I am beginning to think is part owl by the sounds it was making last night.) were not singing. I tried and tried to go back to sleep but that was not happening. I stumbled my way to the kitchen to make a pot of good strong coffee so at least I would be able to think straight even if my inner clock was catawampus. (And yes, that really is a word even if it is only in my vocabulary!) As I passed the stairway, I had to smile. Sleeping on the third step was Ms. Put. Not that this is so extraordinary in that she regularly sleeps on the stairs, but she just looked so cute next to the Halloween decorations. Ahh, now that is a picture worth saving..sleeping black kitty next to Halloween pumpkins! It could have been staged! I grabbed the camera and stumbled back to the stairs. Good..she was still sleeping! Carefully, I focused the camera and snapped a picture. NOT GOOD! Never photograph a sleeping cat while using a flash! At least, never photograph a sleeping Ms. Put while using a flash! A hiss and a low guttural growl let me know that if the camera and I wanted to survive in one piece, we had better make a hasty exit. Ms. Put is not one that takes kindly to bright lights and intrusive paparazzi disturbing her beauty sleep. Retreating to the kitchen, I made my coffee. I had avoided the flying claws that are attached to a very temperamental cat. Geez, I love this kitty!
