All of the above are nifty little sayings but just how many of us live them? How many people in this Sweet Land of Liberty can honestly say that we are truly patriotic? Or is patriotism dead except when it comes to celebrating a holiday? Does the "Fourth of July" make our hearts swell with pride for our country and for all which it stands? It should. This is our Independence Day..a day that we should celebrate and give thanks for those that have fought to give us the freedom to celebrate. We should wave Ole Glory from our doorposts not just today but every day. The Stars and Stripes should forever be a thing of pride and remind us all just how fortunate we are to live in this wonderful country..this Land of the Free. We, as a nation, should all be required to learn the words to the national anthem.."The Star Spangled Banner". We, as a nation, should say the "Pledge of Allegiance"..often..and in its entirety. We, as a nation, should live our patriotism. How sad that this thing called patriotism is now more of an excuse to have a day off from work or school than a day of tribute to Liberty. Patriotism, is not a thing that should be celebrated on only one day out of the year or even in minute spurts throughout the year..it should be lived on a daily basis. It has be a dedication of an entire lifetime. If it is not, then how can you call yourself an American? How can you live in a place where you are not willing to give back as much as you take? How can you not shout hooray when the Red, White and Blue is raised high in the sky and unfurls itself over this Home of the Brave. From "sea to shining sea" the colors hold protection over each of us. As citizens of this fine nation, it is our duty to hold in our hearts some semblance of love, respect and honor for all which it stands. To my way of thinking, if you cannot take pride in the colors of your flag, then you need to start seeking another. So from rooftop to mountaintop, Let Freedom ring! Let it spread the country over..let it be known that Patriotism is alive and well, here in America. Let that be the new "American Dream"..stand tall, stand strong but stand for our nation. Be proud to say "I was born in the USA"! Be proud to say "I am an American!" Be proud to wave our Flag! Be proud to show patriotism..for it is this patriotism that is the heart-blood of our Great Nation. God bless you, all..and God Bless America!
