As Right As Rain!

For years now, I have been trying to find the good in most everything. This is not say that I always have wonderful days but rather that somewhere, somehow during that day, I will find something good.  I am sure that there is some point to this odd idiosyncrasy other than my own inner peace, I am just not sure whether it amounts to a hill of beans to anyone else.  That is ok.  I am not out to please others.  It is my day, my mood and my happiness.  So, that said, no matter how dismal things may appear at the moment, it is my firm belief that if I look hard enough, I shall find a reason to smile.

It was a most tiring day.  I had been working all day trying to battle more bugs.  This seems to be an ongoing chore. This time, I found the tiniest bugs ever living in our laundry room.  The laundry room sort of doubles as a pantry for herbs and dried foods. My mind immediately raced to the point of thinking I had bugs in foodstuffs! This would never do!  I admit that I panicked a bit and called my son, Michael, down to the kitchen.  His eyesight is far better than mine and I figured that he would be able to find the source of the critters.  I started to itch just thinking about teeny-tiny bugs crawling about on me while I washed clothes.  He and I went through every item stored in the laundry room.  We checked the herbs, dried beans and flours.  No bugs.  We checked the persimmon leaf tea and Camphor leaf balm.  No bugs.  We even went so far to check the dog's food and cats' food.  No bugs.  It seems that the bugs were only in the white dishpans.  Weird.  Still, I was happy the foodstuffs were bug-free.  That was a good thing!

This evening, Ms. Ez and I made our way to the pier.  After the tiring chores of today, I needed a bit of respite.  Even our hike started out as an irritating thing.  Mosquitoes and Deerflies bombarded me the moment I stepped out the door.  More bugs!  I hurried down the board path since there rarely are any critters at the end of the pier.  Usually, the breeze will keep things comfortable there.  I was in for a surprise when I realized that there was no breeze!  The bugs were not surprised one iota!  They knew all along that it was not windy and that they had me cornered! That Bay was as calm as glass!  No matter where I turned, bugs!  Just as I was about to become critter food, I heard a soft pitter-patter on the pier boards.  Rain!  Oh, great!  Now I was not only being attacked but would be soaked as well!  Ms. Ez had already started toward the house!  Sure, Dog!  Abandon me during my trials and tribulations!  I gave up and headed up after Ms. Ez.  About halfway up the pier, it dawned on me that I was not being chased by the bugs any more.  They decided that the rainstorm was not to their liking!  Ok, this was a "good".  Who cared about getting wet?  I enjoyed a nice leisurely stroll up the hill.  Oh, bother!  Since I was wet anyway, I strolled on around the hillside!  The cooling rain was great!  The view was great! The absence of bugs was great!  Ahhh, What a fine day this has been!
