This morning was filled with a trip to the farmers' market and grocery store. This proved to be a most delightful time spent with family and friends. Along the way, we gathered a goodly amount of fresh produce and meats to make a feast for later in the day. My son, Mark and his wife, Joanna are the most amazing hosts and make sure we are well fed! Every meal is an exciting adventure with them. They both love to cook and I must say they do this well.
After doing our shopping, we headed back to their lovely home just in time to notice that heavy black clouds were gathering in the distance. Uh oh, it looks like our grilling outside might just have to be put on hold! I slipped out on the back deck to check the weather. This did not bode well for any type of outdoor activity. Those clouds were definitely dark and were headed our way fast. Joanna and I watched as the storm neared. It was exciting to say the least. I have always like a good storm! We thought it best to get ourselves back inside and noticed that her herb gardens were quite wilted. Hmmm? I couldn't have that so I grabbed the red watering can and proceeded to give the plants a drink. I am sure that this gave the neighbors pause as they probably thought I was whacko being as I was watering plants while a thunderstorm built strength and loomed creepily just beyond the trees. Oh, well. Maybe I am just a tad crazy!
The rest of the afternoon was most perfect. Mark and I played with our granddaughter, (son) Mark made the most delicious hamburgers on the grill from his special recipe using home-ground meat, and Joanna made the side dishes including Mexican Corn! The fun continued as we watched our favorite college team win their football game.
Funny things is, that storm never made it to the house. If I had not given the plants a drink, they would have shriveled a bit more. It is strange how such a dark and gloomy day couldn't put a damper on our fun!
