Its the Little Things

I don't care how much money you spend on things, sometimes, its the little things that count the most.  To me, it is rather stupid to waste money on buying expensive items.  Make use of what you have on hand, reuse items even if is for a different purpose and appreciate all. Small gestures of kindness fill the heart.

Today, Mr. PJ seemed to fully agree with me.  For the past few nights, we have had pop up thunderstorms rattling the Little Bayou House. Those make for good sleeping if you ask me.  A good storm is restful. It cleanses the mind.  But, those same storms make for a wet pier come morning.  While that is fine and dandy as far as I am concerned, Mr. PJ is not as comfortable lounging on wet boards.  He tries but with the arthritis in his hips, it just was not a good thing.  Something had to be done!  So this morning on the way out the door, I reached down and grabbed the blanket off his bed.  (Yep, he has a cushy bed AND a blanket!)  Once we made it to the end of the pier, the folded blanket was proffered to him.  Oh, was that old dog one happy camper!  He plopped down on the blanket and looked at me appreciatively.  His old bones would not hurt today!

That small gesture meant the world of difference to the old dog.  I know just how he feels.  Sometimes, rethinking your words to say something a bit differently, offering nothing but kindness or even just a friendly glance can be what it takes to change someone's world.  Being negative, slinging unsolicited advice or uttering harsh words accomplishes nothing but ill will.   A small gesture of kindness is best for fellowman and critter alike.
