While trying to get the yard back in order after it being totally trashed by construction work, I decided to create a small fountain for the Frog Pond. A large pottery urn was lugged from the greenhouse and toppled over on its side. Being as this was a planter, it already had a convenient hole in the back for the hose from the pond filtration system. The only "construction" was to poke the hose into the back of the urn and then do a bit of strategic placing of plants to hide the works. The pump worked well so a bit of "landscaping" inside the urn was next. A goofy lawn ornament or "toad home" (as it is called), some gravel and a few plants rounded out the interior of the urn. Being satisfied with my efforts, the work soon turned to landscaping the area around the pond and overturned urn/fountain. All was going well until the rains came and everything came to a screeching halt. In fact, even the running water in the fountain came to a screeching halt as I forgot to turn on the pump!
This morning, a surprise awaited for me at the "fountain". It seems that once I had vacated the area due to rain, a frog decided that the fountain was its new home. Instead of being a "toad home", the mushroom shaped ornament is now a "frog home". My little friend has claimed the overturned urn as its very own house and yard. Now, how cute is that?? I guess froggies need homes, too. Hopefully, my sweet friend will not mind a bit of running water in his front yard!
