Early this morning, I stepped outside to "check the weather". Old Southern folks do that. We do not depend on the weather forecast, we go "check the weather". Ok, so the weather was there. Yep! A heavy cloud cover blocked out the sunrise and left the yard a bit dismal. I really should have gone back through that screen door and brewed another pot of coffee but, instead, I headed to the garden. Imagine my surprise when I found the "welcome sign" hanging on the rope gate latch!
A dark red leaf had fallen from a tree and landed exactly on the rope. Somehow, the leaf had slipped behind the rope and became lodged there. I examined the leaf and was astounded by its beauty. The leaf had not a blemish on it and was almost a heart shape. Wow! This was meant for me and me, alone! Nary another soul would see my welcome sign.
Folks, take the time to see what is around you. Really look. Examine. Be enthralled. Never take even the smallest thing for granted as this may all be taken away at any given time. I have learned the hard way to appreciate every last thing, love every moment and be at peace with myself. Take my advice and do not wait. Life is short and there is just so much to see.
