I am one of those types of cooks who will just throw stuff in the pot and hope for the best. Rarely is a recipe used and, if it is, most of the time, it will be altered to fit the ingredients that I have on hand. A smidge of this and a tad of that is how I measure things. Thankfully, the food is somewhat edible.
This is also how the home canning is done. The procedure is followed to a T but the ingredients are whatever lands in the pot. With the tomato season upon us, it was necessary to start making sauce and canning it for future meals. That precise measuring came into play! (Yeah, right!) Of course, you usually cannot go wrong with tomato sauce, although, Son tells me sometimes I create pasta sauce or something else. This time, he claimed my tomato sauce tasted exactly like pizza sauce. Well, pizza is good, right? I am just happy to be getting tomatoes!
