It can be done.

Elizabeth and I are in the midst of planning her gardens for her new yard.  This is exciting for me and I am so glad that she has included me in her landscaping planning.  She wishes to do something along the lines of permaculture which is conscious effort to be a sustainable, productive system that is modeled after a natural ecosystem.  She wishes to have fruit trees, vegetable plots, flower gardens and beehives.  It can be done.  Somewhere in the midst of all this, she wishes to have some place that is a peaceful nook with perhaps a water feature. Again, this can be done.  It will take a lot of work and a lot of time.  Nothing worth doing should be rushed.

Speaking of peaceful places, I think that I have found one of my favorite places to just relax.  The greenhouse that my son built is where I escape to when I need time for myself.  There I can "putter" about doing things that I love.  Rooting bottles, seed pots, plants and a few knickknacks all make for a lovely hideaway.  This is a work in progress as I figure out just what all I wish to include and what all I wish to rid from the space.  My work at the moment is of the quiet sort.  Mama Wren sits on her lovely eggs in the watering can.  She eyes me closely as I pot the cuttings and snip back the lanky begonias.  The little bird is becoming accustomed to my presence which makes me happy.

It occurred to me that Elizabeth will need a greenhouse.  Not some prefab, throw-together sort from the store but a fine hand-built one like Michael created for me.  She needs a place to putter around after work. I find being around plants is a great stress-reliever and I am sure she will as well.  She and I are more alike than we ever thought possible.  To fit in with her permaculture plan, I am sure that she will agree to use recycled windows and other building materials in this part of the garden.  Oh, the fun we will have as we design and plan this entire yard. Oh...did I mention that this yard is about five acres?  Yep, that sure will be a lot of planning but...it can be done!
