Lee Comes to Visit.

This posting is going to a bit different as I am going to try to keep you updated on the happening on the Bayou as it is visited by Tropical Storm Lee. At the moment it is 4AM and still a tad dark to take any pictures. Through my front door though, I can already see the light glinting off of the water which is well into the yard. I think there will be no treks down the pier this morning..it is under. After a night of a good bit of rain and a few bouts of gusty wind, I hear the Hurricane Hunters are already on the job. Their huge plane thunders in the distance..ready to head into the eye of Lee. They do keep us well informed. As soon as it is lighter (weather permitting), I will head out to take a few pictures.

...The above was posted early this morning. We had a relatively calm day of just torrential rains with a few gusts now and again. Now though as it is nearing dusk, things are picking up a bit. The tide is pouring in with the wind doing a good job of pushing it. At the moment, there are only a few minor limbs down and the top of one tree. Nothing major. Still..things are starting to kick here and are supposed to be this way for the next several days. This is a slow moving storm so once it starts in force..there will be no let up for at least 48 or more hours.

I vaguely remember Pop telling a story of the Hurricane of 1947. It seems that the family's boat had broken loose from its moorings and was floating away with the wind and tide. To lose a boat at that time was quite a terrible thing, so he and one of his brothers hauled out the canoe and braved the hurricane winds to retrieve their boat. Hmmm..I am not so sure that a canoe would be my choice of watercraft during a hurricane but they made it to the boat, hopped in, rowed it back to shore towing the canoe along side. Brave? Definitely fearless to say the least.

I am quite sure that tonight is going to be most interesting. I will try to keep posting as long as the electricity stays on even if they are short posts. This would be just to keep all updated on the status of the Little Bayou House. Keep all that are in the path of the storm in your prayers. Be safe, my friends..it is going to be a wild ride on the Bayou tonight!
