A tad of ingenuity!

I am thankful! I was sitting contemplating life..(hehe..and before anyone gets the misconception that I think deep thoughts)..and just thinking how fortunate I am to live on the Bayou. It is fun here! (I warned you that there was no thought-provoking questions burning in my brain!) It seems as if on a daily basis there is something entertaining to try here and I usually do. Since there are hardly any visitors that come down the lane, I am free to experiment with mundane things such as home decor! I am not a decorator by far as is evident by the hodgepodge mess of a place that I have! The Little Bayou House is comfortable but hardly belongs on the pages of any magazine. Still today while I was pondering, I came up with a novel idea..or at least novel to me! I know others have done this but not me! Several days ago, I had someone tell me (two folks, actually) that I was jumping the gun by getting my Christmas decorations out of the closet! Imagine that! How can anyone ever be too early???? Anyway, this made me think that since Thanksgiving had not even made its arrival on the calendar, perhaps I should not put up any of my Christmas Trees. That thought came and went. The tree in the dining room is up and shining away with its little lights!

Then..a realization..I am having company for Thanksgiving dinner! oops...Perhaps they will not appreciate a Christmas Tree looming over them while they eat! This problem was easily remedied though! Since I had not put any ornaments on the tree..and I was putting the Fall decorations up in the closet when a idea hit! I turned my Christmas Tree into a Thanksgiving Tree! As I was placing some paper leaves and fruit on the tree, I begin to think just how fortunate I have been throughout my life. The leaves reminded me of the beauty of almost everything I have ever encountered. Sure there are some things that have not been to my liking but overall, there has been more delightful occurrences than naught. The fruit that took the place of ornaments made me think of all of the times that I have been blessed with far more food and material items than I could ever need. Pine cones tucked in the branches gave it a natural touch and made me think of life here on the Bayou amidst the pines. Life goes on year after year. Why even the tree itself was a reminder of life. I compensated for the fact that this is a fake tree by coming to the understanding that human hands made this tree! (Ha..now how is that for using the brain!) When I finished, the Thanksgiving Tree stood tall in the corner with its branches now laden with pine cones, fruit and brightly-colored leaves! It was a thing of beauty! And this thing of beauty was justified..but just so everyone will know..IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO DECORATE FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

I am still not certain that my guests will like eating near a Thanksgiving Tree but at least it is not prematurely decorated as a Christmas Tree! That will come within hours of the big feast of that day!
