It has been one of those days. You know, those days when it seems that everything is crashing down around you. Yep, that kind of day. Late last night, I found a flea on my sock. Nothing terrible, it was just a flea. Then I found another and another and another. Oh, geez. Now that is terrible! I decided right then and there that something needed to be done. We do not need another bout with critters. It was a bit confusing since I diligently douse the furry family members with their prescribed dosage of toxins each month. I know this is not the healthiest remedy but all else seems to fail in preventing fleas. Now this has failed. Fleas have taken over the house! Termites have taken over the walls. Grasshoppers have taken over the lawn. I AM SO OVER BUGS!
After a full night of spraying chemicals about the living room, Ms. Ez, the freshly washed dog, and I moved to other parts of the house. She was a bit confused as to why her new sleeping quarters were the entryway so I left the door open for her. She could have come and gone as she pleased but she was divinely cooperative and stayed in the small room. This morning was the same. Anything washable was run through the machine. Those items not washable were just tossed in the dryer for a bit. Floors received a good vacuuming and mopping to get up any residual mess. Hopefully, this will eradicate the bloodsucking little varmints but if not, the whole process will begin again. To say I am tired is an understatement.
Once I finished, I wanted to head outside to get some fresh air but no sooner had I stepped out the door, it began to rain. Just what I needed! I wanted outside! I wanted fresh air! I did not want rain! In a way, this was the icing on the cake. Blah! I turned to stare out the window and had to smile. On the window ledge, some happy daffodils were trying their best to brighten my day. Mark had surprised me with a pot of the flowers a few days ago and today, they were as happy as can be! Their yellow blooms made me appreciate the rain as without it, the flowers, trees and grass would never grow. I needed the reminder that all things are for a purpose. Even the rain. (Maybe not the fleas, though!)
