Smile!

Back when I was a kid, Grandpa always used to have me looking for faces.  I think this was more a way of getting me to really notice things around me than to actually find someone looking back at me.  He would point to a flower and say "Look real close.  Do you see the face?" Sometimes, no matter how hard I tried, I saw no face.  I saw petals, stamens and leaves.  I often saw a critter or two crawling on the plant. There were even times when I saw dew drops but it took a while before I became adept at seeking out those faces.  Now, faces seem to lurk in every corner.  Most are seen without even my trying.  They are just there.  Grandpa!  What have you done to me?

Out back behind the shed, there are several large coolers that could not be stored inside the shed.  At the moment, the shed is in dire need of a good cleaning so the ice chests are right where they were last used.  I keep promising myself that the shed is next on the agenda but somehow, that agenda keeps changing.  Still, those ice chests are sitting out there being an eyesore...or just being eyes.

This morning, I traipsed out to the compost pile with a heap of scraps from the kitchen.  As I passed the coolers, I had the eerie feeling that someone or something was watching me!  I turned to come face to face with...the cooler.  That chest had the happiest smile on it that I had ever seen!  Well, now!  What a way to start my day!  The cooler's smile was contagious and I soon found myself grinning ear to ear as well. Yep, the faces are everywhere and some even have huge smiles to brighten the day!
