Today was absolutely gorgeous! I spent most of the day piddling around in the greenhouse. It had gotten a bit cluttered making it difficult to do much "greenhouse" type things so a good cleaning was in order. Before that was even thinkable, I pruned back most of the plants. As they had overwintered in the warmth of the sunny building, the plants grew quite leggy. The snippings added to the messiness so the entire place was swept and straightened. Now my "Happy Place" is indeed happy! The lizards and I communed and agreed that they could have free reign of the place. I figure that if dozens of lizards crawled about the plants, bugs would not stand a chance. Eat up, my friends!
After a bit, my sweet sister-in-law came and we decided that the greenhouse was the perfect place to catch up on all the news. With all of the windows, we had a perfect view of the Bay and Bayou. Those same windows gave us a shelter against the chilly wind that swept across the water. As we were chatting, I pointed out that someone else was fully enjoying our gorgeous day even with that chilly breeze. A sailboat was scooting across the water while its white sails glistened in the sunlight. Wow! That had to be fun. It is strange. I have lived on the water all of my life and have yet to set sail in such a lovely boat. Maybe someday...maybe.
The rest of the afternoon was spent sorting seeds for tomorrow's plantings. The gardens will be in full swing soon! I can hardly wait for fresh vegetables. I am growing weary of the spinach and mustard greens. Those winter crops come in handy but there is nothing like a good bunch of yellow squash or fresh green beans! In the meantime, I will continue to make good use of that greenhouse even if it to just watch the sailboats from a distance!
