As I browsed among the knickknacks, old clothes and dishes, nothing struck my fancy. I usually can find something that would lend itself to the annual clue hunts but not one item even remotely cried out to be purchased. Those must surely be someone else's treasures as they were definitely not mine. THEN! Then I spied it! Across the room, beyond the modern dresser and behind a bin of ratty stuffed animals, a piece called to me! "I need to go home with you!" Yep, that is exactly what it did!
A small wooden school desk was hidden back in that far corner. Somehow, even though it was quite covered, I picked it out as a treasure. "Mark!" I exclaimed excitedly. He was over looking at some exercise equipment and probably had no clue as to what grabbed my attention. "I want it!" was all it took. When I pointed at the little desk, he had the same thought that I did. It would go perfectly in our revamped toy room. Our grandbabies could use the little desk when they are here next time. The desk may not be worth a red cent to anyone else but to me, it is priceless. Anything for the grandlittles!
The nice lady pushed and shoved items out of the way and hoisted the heavy desk up over the toy bin. Mark reached over and brought my prize out into the open. Yep! It was as wonderful as I had thought! With that, I was ready to go. I had found the item that sent those subliminal vibes to me this morning! Somehow that little desk knew it was coming to stay at the Little Bayou House and just "made" me want to go to the thrift store! Sometimes you just have to go with it!
