Sleepy Cats and Rainy Nights

Ok, so it rained.  Again.  This is a daily occurrence here lately.  July, much like June and every month before, is fast becoming "one for the record books".  Usually by this time, we are into the long, hot, dry months that make the garden look a lot like a barren wasteland.  Instead, that garden is beginning to resemble a rain forest.  My purple basil is taller than I am and all other plants are well on their way to being such.  Bad part is that the plants are not producing anything other than leaves!  But since I like rain, I shall not complain.  Pop always used to say there was no use in complaining about the weather as you could never change it even if you wanted.  Just accept what the Good Lord gives and be thankful for it. Makes sense to me.

This wetness is also causing woes for critters.  Ms. Nycto, my water-loving cat, has decided that enough is enough.  The Bayou Princess normally wants to sleep right out in a good rainstorm but this evening, she was meowing at the front door.  She was begging to come inside for the night.  This is far out of the ordinary for this cat as she fights tooth and nail to stay outside except when it is cold.  (Then she wants inside and on my bed!)  Tonight, however, is not cold.  It is rainy.  Everything outside is sopping wet so the cat joined me in lounging about the living room for the evening.  With Ms. Put, the Bayou Queen, snuggled into her favorite place in the entryway and Ms. Nycto, the Bayou Princess in the living room,  we are good for the night!  Sleepy cats and rainy nights...it just does not get much better!

Tomorrow appears to be my only chance to get any outside chores accomplished so both cats and I will be braving the elements!
