Just checking!

I have often said that my critter friends seem to care than most people.  It is not often that a human friend calls or stops in to check on my welfare.  They assume that everything is fine and dandy (which it is, by the way) but few folks take time out of their busy days to check up on others nowadays.  It is just a matter of life.  We all get so caught up in our daily lives that we rarely call on old friends.  It used to be as ordinary as pie to call on someone to offer a kind word or helping hand.  Now with all of the time saving technology in our lives, we cannot spare a couple of minutes.  Before anyone thinks that I am pointing fingers, I realize that I do the same.  I am terrible about becoming so engrossed in projects that interruptions are slap aggravating but those critter friends seem to have the time to spare!

This afternoon after a long morning of installing flooring, it was time for a break.  The old dog and I headed to the pier to bask in the warm sunshine.  It did not take long for both of us to start feeling fully relaxed.  Him to the point of snoozing and me to enjoying the view.  I suppose we both sat too still for too long for Friend Osprey became concerned.  The bird had been scanning the waters for its next meal when, suddenly, it stopped and came to check on us.  The osprey hovered directly above us for about ten minutes.  It was just about a stone's throw above our heads giving me a beautiful view of the majestic bird!

It is nice to know that the bird seems to consider itself our friend.  This is the same osprey that sits in the dead pine whenever I am working in the yard.  I suppose that after seeing each other every day, we cannot help but care about each other.  Either that or the bird thought that Mr. PJ and I were both slap crazy lounging about on the pier!
