Evening Lace!

Beautiful sunrise over the Bayou!

I was so in awe of the sunrise this morning! It was breathtaking! The entire Bay was painted with shades of gold! Equally impressive were the contrails left by the many jets that crisscrossed the sky at dawn. There were a number of trails that resembled an attempt at skywriting but with an illiterate pilot! The contrails were hodge-podged across the sky in no particular order. Ms. Ez and I sat for the longest time just staring at the eastern sky. I kept wondering if there was an unusual amount of sky traffic or if for some strange reason I had just never noticed this phenomenon before. Surely with all of the photos I take of the sunrises on the Bayou, I would have seen the gridwork of jet lines. Perhaps there was just some atmospheric difference today that allowed the jets to create such vivid contrails..I have no clue. Still...it was quite impressive.

Just slightly to the North, the Eastern sky was criss-crossed with jet contrails!

Then this evening, the sky was again emblazoned with beautiful contrails crossing in front of the sunset! Nary a one was in the eastern sky..all were being illuminated with the setting sun. Again, I sat agog. I counted eleven jets in just a matter of minutes..all heading North to South or vice-versa. The show was ever-changing and I soon became to view this as a Southern version of the Aurora Borealis! Though short-lived, the show was spectacular!

An equally gorgeous sunset on the Bayou!

Just before sunset, a large jet flew over from the South. It left a narrow contrail that soon widened with the upper level winds. Those winds whipped the contrail's (what appeared to be) lower half into a jagged fringe. As I watched this, my imagination started kicking in and that contrail soon began to look mightily like a long strip of fine lace! Why, I could even almost envision the stitches left by the tatting needles! This strip of lace appeared to have the most even stitches and a fine Picot edging! In my mind, I could just imagine God up in the sky tatting away to give us a dusk all wrapped up in gorgeous lace edging!

Closeup of one of the jet contrails in the sunset..God's handiwork!

After Ezzy and I reentered the house, I began to think about that lace! When viewing the pictures I had taken, I was not disappointed in my assumption. That contrail did indeed look like lace! Maybe my imagination is not too far-fetched! Maybe..just maybe..God blessed me with this vivid imagination so I could view His handiwork in a different light! Evening Lace!
